With over 30 years of experience in the field of landscape architecture, Bernie Alonzo has an unmatched understanding of landscape design and construction for technically challenging projects. As a practice leader for GGN and Herrera Environmental, his experience spans civic landmarks, institutional campuses, international embassies, public parks, and cultural facilities, both nationally and internationally. While adept in leading the technical delivery of projects like the Gates Foundation, Burke Museum, and Washington State Convention Center Summit Expansion, Bernie's greatest strength lies in nurturing talented designers to develop and realize their client’s vision.
Bernie founded LA Support Services to address a gap he observed throughout his career: a disconnect between what landscape architecture programs teach and what practitioners need to know to deliver projects effectively. To address that gap, he helps firms with limited capacity to transfer senior-level knowledge to their project managers and designers, bringing the experience, judgment, and teaching instinct that help firms and their people grow.
